If it's lucite, we must be in Napoli.  ...Dodging the crowds in Pisa....

Pisa

Probably Italy's most recognizable landmark, the Tower of Pisa is actually one of four buildings. The dome shows the Tower, the Duomo, and the Baptistry. The fourth building is a mausoleum and mentioned here only because the tours push you to buy tickets to enter it.

What we see in the dome is wrong, because the tower is actually on the right side.

Here is the correct lay of the land in Pisa. The tower or Torre Pendente was started in 1173. with all that leaning. it wasn't finished until 1350.

Like many Italian cities, the older sections are surrounded by a defensive wall, so you enter through a gate. Our tour bus always left at the crack of dawn, so we were among the first to pass thru. When we left, the area was packed with people.

Pisa had three or four different lucite domes for sale, but I passed them up. No regrets. These two are all I needed.

Off to Venice......
